Founded in 1923 at an international police congress in Monaco, the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) is highly regarded as the world's leading international police organization, with numerous regional bureaus and offices located worldwide. Since its establishment, INTERPOL has been headquartered in Lyon, France, and currently comprises 196 member states.
INTERPOL has served as the forerunner for combating national and transnational crimes, with a focus on three main areas: terrorism, cybercrime, and organized crime. While unable to directly intervene in law enforcement operations, INTERPOL serves as an administrative, global liaison connecting law enforcement agencies. INTERPOL addresses a variety of international violations, including drug trafficking, white-collar crimes, counterfeit crimes, environmental crimes, and political corruption. By serving as an international intelligence sharing unit, INTERPOL has promoted global harmony and cooperation, making it a key player in maintaining worldwide security.
As a General Assembly, INTERPOL is a beginner-friendly committee that welcomes delegates of all levels. This iteration, the committee will observe regular Rules of Procedure. Position Papers are mandatory for award consideration.
